Ok, Lets start with Mixing…
I run a hybrid set up, which means I mix using both outboard gear and “in the box” plugins. Outboard gear gets us the sounds we’re all used to hearing from our favorite records. It’s real electricity being manipulated through a tube, or light, or transformer, or transistor or all of them at the same time! They’re awesome. Plain and simple. (A list of outboard gear is provided below). Plugins are great too! They’re recallable, which is great for mix revisions and saving time, and you can basically do endless amounts of manipulation and automation with them. AND they sound great too! Perfect for a project on a tighter budget!
Now, when I’m Producing…
First we make sure we’re both on the same page, reflecting on the emotion and sounds you want the music to portray. Then, we take the necessary steps to get it there! “How can we make sure you’re as comfortable as possible so we get your best take?” “Maybe that shaker in the first chorus isn’t serving the song well.” “We need more attitude, let’s drive these guitars a little harder!” Every decision matters, and I’m here to help and collaborate with you along the way. AND WE MUST HAVE FUN!! No Exceptions…
Whether we’re working together remotely, or you come to my studio, you will have access to all the lovely noise makers I own. Vintage guitars, compressors, microphones, a baby grand piano, etc., whatever is needed, it is at our disposal.
